Contains a brief paragraph how it connects to your study of humanities. 1 point
San Francisco is one of the few large cities i have ever been too. Like any city it is a diverse collection of different people from all over the world. People interact at the local colleges and the tourist attractions like the golden gate bridge. The city of San Francisco connects to our study of humanities in that it is a great representation of a melting pot of culture and it is virtually in our back yard.
Observation: What did you choose? What do you see or hear or feel or think of in the choice you made? What is the subject of the work? If you chose a 'thing' what is the work made of and what techniques (colors, lines, shapes, textures)does the creator use? Be specific in your description. If you chose a place, be specific in your description of what you see or hear. Talk to your reader as though they cannot see the item but somehow must draw a painting of what you see or hear. 1 point
I chose the city of San Francisco because it is the closest city and also a great representation of California culture. San Francisco is a wonderful city where you can go and divulge in any culture you wish. You can go to china town and experience authentic Chinese cuisine with an aroma the fills the air. You can also take a fairy to Alcatraz island and walk through a staple of San Francisco's and experience the history of the city. You can go down to Haight Ashbury street and walk around and see all the tattoo shops and different alternative shops that it has to offer. Along with different locations San Francisco has the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge which covers the bay and links northern California to "the City" as we call it.
Interpretation: What is your choice about? Give specific examples to support this statement in 2 sentences; do so in a way that teaches us something about your choice. Make Paulo Freire proud! .75 point
San Francisco can be an easy escape from cows and farms but for me it is a taste of the many cities i have never visited and would like to. In the future I would like to experience staying and maybe living in San Francisco.
Judgment: What led you to your choice? What do you think or feel about this choice? Why do you feel this way? Support your thoughts with specific observations. .5 point
San Francisco has much to offer and a variety of ways to do it in. From the best shopping to the best food. I was led to this choice because i have not been to many other places in California that truly embodied what the culture of California is really like. San Francisco by far is the most fast pace diverse city within California that i can think of. The choice of a place in California was pretty obvious to me of what place to chose because as i said i have not visited many places or experienced them to the extent that i have San Francisco.
Questioning: What else would you like to know about this choice? When completing the question section, lead your audience into the question by stating a fact you do know, yet you still have the related question. This way, both your audience and you will have an educational experience. Example: I learned that John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath was based on his personal experience working with farm workers. I would like to know if the
racters he used in that book are fictitious or are they people he met? .5 pointI learned that San Francisco is the largest city in California. I would like to know how it compares to other well know cities in the United States.
5. Using your classmates work from last week, tell us one thing you learned from 1 student. Is this one thing some common experience you share or some experience that is completely different than what you experienced? Is this one thing related to our class theoretical foundation and if so, how? Is that one thing related to historical or cultural context of this country or a different one? Link that persons blog to this entry (eg cut paste that blog entry here) . .5 point
I chose to look at Ross Lemly's 1C project on Paulo Freire. One new thing that i learned was that Paulo was very close to his students and often repeated the phrase "a teacher who learns and a learner who teaches."I have taken many classes which have been an exchange of ideas and experiences. I feel that this is the best way to truly grasp and learn a subject. This online class would be considered an exchange of ideas. We look at each others work and learn from one another. This is a collaboration or a learner teaching as Paulo would say. http://russdabus44.blogspot.com/2008/09/assignment-1c.html
